DESIGN & BRAND GUIDELINES

Press Freedom Project

The Washington Post’s public service initiative, the Press Freedom Project, is dedicated to press freedom around the world.

Designing for the Press Freedom Project is a rewarding part of my role at The Post, but often come with quick turnaround times so we can respond to developing stories. To better prepare myself and the team, I developed a best practices guide and templates which accommodate the nuances that come with designing for this purposeful initiative.

These guidelines provide the team with a variety of templates that speak to the PFP considerations; including varying lengths of copy, pull quotes, low quality images provided by partners, and different combinations of PFP partner logos. Consistency from start to finish is easier now, while preflight and export settings make for a seamless handoff.
